The Ministry of the Word
At Graceminster, we believe that the preaching of the Word of God should be the pinnacle of the worship service. For that reason, we devote ample amount of time to the study and application of Scripture. Our preaching style is expository in nature, meaning that we practice the long standing Reformed tradition known as the "lectio continua" method of preaching. Using this method, we preach from entire books of the Bible verse by verse and faithfully draw out applications for today when appropriate.
Here are some of the benefits of this method of preaching as opposed to other "topical" or "thematic" methods.
1.)It teaches the congregation to know the whole counsel of God, not just randomly selected passages.
2.) It teaches the congregation how to study the bible.
3.) It ensures that all scripture is preached, even the difficult passages.
4.) It keeps the focus on what God says instead of whatever the preacher happens to be excited about that month.
5.) It leads to the congregation thinking and living biblically as the flock grows in their depth and comprehension of scripture.
